There is a huge beer menu lots to choose from and wine too.

But the pizza is my favorite...
Its just the way I like it. Thin tasty crust, fresh toppings like heirloom tomatoes, basil, prosciutto, potatoes and so on and so on!

There are lots of salads, Sides and desserts too!

There is nothing like a good British Breakfast!

There is nothing like a good British Breakfast!
Check this out...
I'm drooling just posting this right now!
This fabulous breakfast was devoured over the weekend by me. I ate almost the entire plate before realizing "I think I'm full!" luckily I had my Father in-law and Matt there to help finish off some of the sausage otherwise, if I did, they would have had to roll me out the door!

We to The Shakespeare Pub watch the Germany vs. Italy soccer game, Italy won. Beer for breakfast and fish and chips were on the menu. But the description of the English Breakfast caught my eye! I then followed my breakfast with a cup of PG Tips and a stroll to the Shakespeare Shoppe. (Another post to come)
I love this place because the menu and atmosphere takes me back to dining when I was a kid. The soccer game took me back too and wished for my Dad to be there too for some Ooooh! Ahhhh! Oh! -ing!

So here are some more pictures...

A Perfect Book For Memorial Day BBQ's!

If your work isn't closed for Memorial Day, May 31st, that is too bad for you! I hope your getting paid double time! :)

Anyways, I have the perfect book for your Memorial Day Barbecue or even Fathers Day Barbecue.

The new 'Planet Barbecue' by Steven Raichlen takes a look at barbecue recipes from around the world. It includes techniques, tips, and plenty of photos to help your barbecue adventures. This is a great book because it helps to break away from the normal hot dogs and hamburgers and electrify our taste buds with things like 'Honey and Soy Split-Roasted Chicken Wings' (page 23), and 'Butterflied New York Strip with Bacon and Eggs' (page 157).

I also love the "Advance Preparation" sections for each recipe. This helps me to know if I need to marinade items for long or short periods of time. It also says if I should prep sauces ahead. Some of the main recipes even include side recipes like the 'Mexican Guacamole' (page 131) to pair with your main dish.

'Planet Barbecue' is easy to read, the photos are awesome, and I love the 'Barbecue History' in the opening of the book. I've gotten about half way through reading and browsing the book and this Memorial Day I plan to make three recipes and blog about them. I think one of my choices maybe the 'Grilled Bread With Chocolate' (page 112).

If you have the book already and have cooked from it, what was one of your favorite recipes?

'Planet Barbecue' can be found on his website store link here.

OR
be available for purchase and Steven Raichlen will have a book signing:

Mashed Potato Tacos & Bacon Wrapped Pineapple

Mashed Potato Tacos
At the book signing for Sam The Cooking Guy, he made and gave out some very yummy Mashed Potato Tacos (link).

I wanted to be able to share these with Matt and friends. So last week went down to the market and picked up some small tortillas, mashed some potatoes, and created these little yummy treats.

Everyone loved them!
One of the best things about this recipe is that the ingredients go a long way... they can make a lot for a group or refrigerate the ingredients for few snacks here and there.

Bacon Wrapped Pineapple

So as we cooked the Mashed Potato Tacos we waited patiently for the (also yummy) Bacon Wrapped Pineapple to bake up.
Oh I'm drooling just typing this up!
Anything is great wrapped in bacon. Pineapple and bacon have that sweet and salty thing going on. You have got to try these!

So the directions are simple...
- Pineapple spears halved
- Bacon (I like that thick cut kind)
Wrap the pineapple with the bacon and bake in a pre-heated 425°F oven for about 15-20 minutes, on a foiled pan (easy clean up), until the bacon is golden and crispy and your drooling over the smell coming from the oven!
And just in case that wasn't enough, When you pull them from the oven and plate, I sprinkle them with a bit of brown sugar!

Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo

Using up some ingredients we had laying around and adding some cooked shrimp... We threw this Fettuccine Alfredo together with a little recipe help from Emeril Lagasse.
I've have never made an Alfredo sauce because it seemed like a hard task, but it wasn't at all.

I know your looking at the pic and there are no Fettuccine noodles
I used up the angel hair noodles we had stuffed in the back cupboard.

Fettucine Alfredo

Ingredients
  • 1 pound dried fettucine
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish, optional

Directions
Cook the fettucine in a pot of rapidly boiling salted water until al dente. Drain in a colander, reserving 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking liquid.
While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add shallots and saute until tender. Add heavy cream and bring to a boil. Cook until sauce has reduced slightly, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Return the pasta to the pot it was cooked in, set over medium-high heat along with the reserved cooking liquid. Add the butter-cream mixture and half of the Parmesan and toss to combine thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan and garnish with parsley, if desired. Serve immediately.

San Diego's, Phils BBQ

Lip smacking! Finger licking, BBQ goodness!

- Happy Birthday Jenn! -

My good friend Jenn picked Phils BBQ for her birthday dinner last week!

Can't complain! Love that place!
Every time we go here, I always enjoy myself... and my appetite enjoys its-self too!

The smell of BBQ just beckons your nose from when you first get down to the Sports Arena area, it is well worth the wait from the line outside. The staff here is so awesome. It takes a small village to keep this place going, each person handling their own job well.

Matt and I always enjoy a good BBQ. Phils has a perfect sauce down. The savory - spicy sauce is perfectly basted over all types of different meats. From ribs to chicken ticklers there is something for everyone. There are also plenty of sides to chose from... we like the baked beans and fries. Last time we got the ribs and chicken combo. Its just perfect when your ribs fall of the bone!

Our order...

Santos & Seven, Love the treats we bring home from there!
