Dough!

Eating out at a pizza restaurant Matt and I realized, we could make this pizza, so we tried...
Our first pizza we made was a margarita pizza. The dough recipe came from Tyler Florance. The sauce came from a can of stewed tomatoes that we seasoned with garlic and Italian herbs and then we mashed all that together. Then we rolled out the pizza, well I rolled, Matt showed of using the 'throwing in the air' technique. Placed the rolled out dough on a pizza stone, topped with sauce, tomatoes, fresh basil, and cheese. Then cooked in the pre-heated oven about 15 minutes at 400*.
Two days later we did it again, except this time I caramelized some onions, added garlic, thyme, salt & pepper. Then rolled out the dough (this time using a recipe from the bread maker which included beer). Placed the dough in the pre-heated oven on the pizza stone, brushed with olive oil, topped with onions, mushrooms, rosemary, salt and pepper. Then baked it in the oven about 15 minutes at 400*.
This was my favorite one so far! The onions were so sweet and then there was the fresh flavors from the fresh herbs. Also the crispy crust was delicious too.
All in all it was a really fun experiance!
They may not look like pizzas from a pizza joint, but we also don't have all the right tools to create with. What would be really fun is to host a pizza party, create dough and when your guests come over let them create a pizza!

You gotta try this! Mango Pomegranate Guacamole

Last class I went to, it was all about pomegranates.
The first time I tried pomegranates I wasn't a big fan, but after last class I was hooked!

I fell in love mainly because of this recipe for Mango Pomegranate Guacamole!
You have got to try this and its so easy to make!
Its the perfect amount of spice and fabulous avocado and lime flavor. There is also a hint of sweet from the pomegranate and mango.

Mesa Liquor Deli & Wine

So I've been to this place a few times on my lunch break. Every time I go I'm satisfied. Great sandwiches using fresh ingredients. I took Matt there the other day and he enjoyed it too. Sorry, I totally forgot to take a photo of our lunch. We had their Roast beef, sliced the perfect thickness. We had it on the white bread (which is my favorite from them) thick sliced soft white bread and it also had all the other good stuff, lettuce, tomato, onion etc...
But they also have some other fabulous combos, like

At their location they have a newer updated menu.

They also have a wide selection of beer, wine and liquor.
If your ever in the area and looking for a good sandwich check them out!
